ISLAMABAD: In response to rumors in the media that Senator Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, will not be attending the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York from September 23 to 27, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the rumors on Saturday.
Dar and PM Shehbaz were supposed to travel to New York to attend the next UNGA session, along with other senior government officials. However, there were rumors that Dar had to postpone his trip because of the unpredictability of the political climate in his home country.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokeswoman for the Foreign Office (FO), stated in a statement today that Dar was not attending the UNGA meeting because of some significant impending diplomatic obligations.
