Following instructions from the Department of Environment, the Punjab Education Department has sent a notification modifying school hours.
Due to Lahore’s air quality index (AQI) hitting 150, which indicates dangerous air quality, the modification will take effect from October 28 to January 31, 2024.
Guidelines were released by the Punjab Environment Protection Department in response to the increasing levels of air pollution. According to these rules, Lahore schools must start no earlier than 8:45 AM, classroom assemblies must take place, and outdoor activities must be prohibited.
These rules are reflected in the Education Department’s announcement, which mandates that no school, public or private, may open earlier than 8:45 AM.
The new schedule will take effect on January 31, 2024.
