ISLAMABAD The salaries of employees at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretariat have been cut by 50% in light of the alleged “financial crunch” that the erstwhile ruling party is currently experiencing, according to people familiar with the situation who spoke on Tuesday.
The sources also stated that additional benefits and privileges of PTI secretariat personnel, such as petrol allowance, have been eliminated immediately.
“At least 25 PTI secretariat employees have had their salaries lowered,” it continued.
PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akam responded to the claims by stating that he personally disagreed with the proposal to cut pay by 50%.
According to Akram, the “tough choice” was made in light of the party’s financial woes and seized accounts.
