KARACHI: Staff at a wedding hall on Dalmia Road held Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers hostage during a routine tax raid, which turned contentious in the port city.
The FBR began an investigation after suspicions that the wedding hall had underreported earnings, according to Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hamza.
Employees of the hall detained the FBR team while they were investigating the alleged underreporting of revenue.
The team encountered unanticipated opposition from the personnel upon arrival, according to FBR officials, who detained the officials against their will.
Hamza claimed that after being informed of the occurrence, he quickly went to the location to engage in negotiations.
