The Lahore High Court has permitted markets and bazaars throughout the province to stay open until midnight during Ramadan and until 1 a.m. on weekends.
These moves are part of efforts to meet the public’s demands throughout the holy month while also offering more time for shopping and relaxation on weekends.
Justice Shahid Karim delivered the orders during a hearing on the smog case. During the hearings, the court expressed worries about parking at restaurants and requested a plan for the facilities.
“Restaurants have less parking space and larger dining halls,” a member of the judicial commission explained.
Furthermore, the court took note of alleged acts of misconduct by restaurant owners against the staff of the judicial commission.
