Lake looked considerably more aggressive as he trailed behind Gallego into the debate. Gallego, a congressman who has served five terms, seemed more at ease in the interim, as seen by his commanding lead in a number of recent surveys.
During the first part of the discussion that night, the two contenders argued about abortion and border security respectively. Gallego cited his backing for the failed bipartisan border plan that was negotiated earlier this year by Democrats, Republicans, and White House officials, while Lake praised H.R. 2, the House GOP-led bill that would strengthen border security.
Gallego further said that Lake desired to deport Deferred.
However, Lake charged that Gallego had no intention of deporting any of the undocumented immigrants who had entered the country illegally during the previous three and a half years.
During the discussion, Lake stated, “We must deal with the people who have poured in during the Bidenvasion, the 20 million people who have entered our country without vetting.” “We have to return them to their native country. I am referring to the individuals who entered without proper screening throughout the previous 3.5 years. I’m not referring to idealists here.
