After a crucial consultative meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) received a final proposal from the ECP’s legal staff to execute the Election Act, according to sources.
The ECP legal team recommended that suspended members be reinstated on reserved seats because it was the responsibility of every department to carry out laws established by Parliament, according to SAMAA TV, citing sources.
The legal team informed the ECP that “the Supreme Court’s order became ineffective after the amendment of the Election Act.”
The ultimate say on the recommendations made by the legal team and sources would be made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Supreme Court are engaged in a legal struggle that has escalated over reserved seats.
