ISLAMABAD: Despite security concerns in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared on Thursday that it is determined and prepared to hold the next general elections on the scheduled day, February 8.
Election preparations and campaigns are in full swing with just one week until the polls on February 8; however, the nation is in shock following a string of violent incidents that have claimed multiple lives, particularly at political party rallies in the two provinces that are typically the most affected by the threat of terrorism.
Following national-level polls, police enforcement has been deployed nationwide to maintain law and order, hence increasing security.
