In spite of the cold, female voters are quite enthusiastic about the general elections, which are scheduled for less than four weeks from now in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where citizens will exercise their right to vote on February 8.
For the next five years, a total of 21.928 million voters in KP—111.437 million men and 9.983 million women—would exercise their right to vote in support of their political parties and independent candidates.
Professor Dr. AH Hilali of the University of Peshawar stated on Saturday that the role of female voters in the 2024 election will be significant, and that any political party that captures their interest on February 8th, the day of voting, would have an advantage over rivals.
He stated that the continuous dilemma of low female voting turnout continues.
He stated that the low female voter turnout is still a problem, particularly in the rural areas of Sindh, the amalgamated tribal regions of KP, the southern districts of Punjab, and the Baloch belt in Balochistan.
He stated that it would be extremely difficult for political parties to get voters to Chitral, Dir, Swat, North Waziristan, and Parachinar areas during periods of heavy rain and bad weather.
Sidra Qaiser, a young voter and teacher in the Nowshera area, expressed her excitement about casting her first ballot in the election scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Voting, she said, was a national duty, and she would support a political party’s nominee only after reviewing its platform.
