Emma Lovell, 41, was slain on Boxing Day, 2022, in Brisbane, after she confronted two intruders.
Along with her daughters and her husband Lee, who was also hurt in the incident, she had left Suffolk in 2011.
Earlier this year, the perpetrator—who cannot legally be identified since he was only 17 at the time—pleaded guilty to killing her.
In addition, he acknowledged to three further assault and burglary offenses.
Judge Tom Sullivan stated in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday that the individual, who is currently 19 years old, had perpetrated a “particularly heinous” crime against the Lovells, whom he referred to as a “loving family” establishing a new life for themselves in a foreign nation.
“They were just regular people living their lives as a family in a place where they had a right to feel safe. What happened totally destroyed that.”
