The sale of goods honoring former drug lord Pablo Escobar, whose cocaine organization has been connected to thousands of killings, is to be prohibited by a proposed law in Colombia’s Congress.
Gonzalo Rojas was in school in Bogota, Colombia, one day in 1989 when a teacher called him out of class to break some heartbreaking news.
That morning, his father, Gonzalo, had perished in an aircraft accident.
“I remember leaving and seeing my mum and grandma waiting for me, crying,” recalls Mr. Rojas, who was only ten years old at the time. “It was a very, very sad day.”
Avianca flight 203 was destroyed by an explosion minutes after takeoff, killing three people aboard the aircraft and 107 passengers and crew.
