Over 1,500 esports champions from around the world will compete for a record $60 million (£47 million) prize pool over the course of eight weeks in Boulevard City.
Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, stated that the Esports World Cup is a significant event in the history of esports.
“It’s a historic convergence of two universal languages, sports and gaming, to bring people together through gaming, disrupt the esports market, and spur expansion throughout the ecosystem.
Competitors will play twenty-one of the most popular video games, such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike 2.
According to George Osborn, the author of the Video Games Industry Memo, there isn’t a similar competition of any type in the esports realm.
The timing of that enormous reward pool is impeccable, according to Mr. Osborn.
He stated that we have been experiencing what has been referred to as the “esports winter.”
“There have been layoffs at esports organisations, teams have closed down, tournaments have shuttered,” stated Mr. Osborn.
Clubs whose teams perform well across the tournament, not only in their individual games, will receive a portion of the World Cup prize money.
