Top authorities, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have been called before a Sukkur district and sessions court about the “loss of Pakistani lives” in migrant boat capsizing incidents off the coast of Greece last month.
PM Shehbaz, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi were all given notices by the extra session judge-II during the hearing, instructing them to appear in court on January 15.
In court application, the petitioner asserted that the government’s carelessness had left Pakistan’s jobless citizens “poised to leave the country.” “75 Pakistanis were killed in the incidents, hence the government’s writ has expired,” it continued.
In order to register a complaint against government officers at the Rohri police station, the petitioner requested that the court give orders.
