Ali Muhammad Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has condemned the current happenings both within and outside the house, comparing them to an assault on democracy similar to what happened on May 9, 2023.
During a Tuesday session of the National Assembly, Khan denounced the detention of PTI lawmakers and said that September 10th will go down in Pakistani democracy history as a bad day.
“Article 6 should be imposed on those who attacked parliament,” Khan added. He went on to say that when people in masks removed legislators from the parliament building, democracy, Pakistan, and its Constitution were all under attack.
Ali Muhammad Khan made it clear that he was worried about Pakistan’s democracy more broadly than just the PTI.
