After less than two years in command at Goodison Park, Sean Dyche was fired as manager of Everton.
Hours before Everton was scheduled to meet League One team Peterborough in the FA Cup third round, the 53-year-old’s departure was made public.
Everton declared that Seamus Coleman, the club captain, and Leighton Baines, their under-18s head coach, would be leading the team in that match.
Coleman, a right-back, and Baines, a former left-back, have combined for over 800 Everton appearances.
Additionally, Dyche lost four members of his coaching staff: Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer.
The Toffees are currently in 16th place in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone, after losing 1-0 to Bournemouth on Saturday.
