LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced the “Dhi Rani Programme,” which aims to assist the poorer members of society by providing each couple with approximately Rs100,000 in addition to the required furniture, clothes, and other necessities for the home.
These days, marriages are challenging and a major financial burden for families from lower-income segments of society due to inflation and rising poverty. Furthermore, the long-standing tradition of the dowry placed an unwarranted strain on the bride’s parents.
CM Maryam declared at the launch of the Punjab Dhi Rani Program that “each newlywed couple will receive Rs 100,000 as wed money through ATM.”
“Each couple’s 20 guests will be served food,” she continued.
