LONDON — Following an acid attack that left him “scarred for life,” Shahzad Akbar, a former federal minister and advisor to ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan, is suing the Pakistani government.
On November 26, 2023, when he answered the door to a caller at his home in Royston, England, acid was hurled in his face.
He thinks he was only blinded because he slammed the door shut and wore spectacles.
Akbar sent a copy of his lawsuit on Monday afternoon to the Pakistan High Commission in London. A copy of the more than fifteen-page legal claim was seen by this reporter. It identifies multiple government officials in Pakistan as the attack’s perpetrators.
