SEOUL: President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached by parliament over his brief martial law order on December 3, and the Constitutional Court of South Korea will hear his case for the first time on Friday.
These are the main concerns regarding South Korea’s future.
What comes next?
Yoon’s presidential powers are stopped following his impeachment on December 14, but he is still in office and is immune from most charges, with the exception of treason and insurrection. Han Duck-soo, Yoon’s designated prime minister, serves as interim president.
It should be mentioned that the opposition party in the nation will vote on Han’s impeachment on Friday.
Within 180 days, the Constitutional Court must determine whether to remove Yoon from office or to uphold his authority.
