The startling sequences occurred during Tuesday night’s Game 4 of the World Series.
When two New York Yankees fans scuffled with Los Angeles Dodgers fielder Mookie Betts, Betts leaped toward the wall to try to grab the ball hit by Gleyber Torres.
While one clutched Betts’ gloved hand with both hands, the other ripped the ball out.
They were consequently dismissed from the game and are now prohibited from attending Wednesday night’s Game 5 of the World Series.
It’s unclear if the prohibition will be lifted.
It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s quite fascinating. “I think it kind of set the tone because it was obviously very early in the game,” said Ben Casparius, a rookie pitcher for the Dodgers.
With the Dodgers leading 3-1 overall and one victory away from winning the Commissioner’s Trophy heading of Wednesday’s pivotal game, the Yankees’ 11-4 victory on Tuesday extended the series and forced the teams into Game 5.
