KARACHI: After being detained for allegedly disseminating anti-state content, journalist Farhan Mallick was placed in jail on judicial remand by a local court on Tuesday.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) brought the senior journalist before the Judicial Magistrate (East) to request an extension of his physical remand after it had ended, which had been in effect for four days.
Mallick, who was the director of news for a private news channel and currently runs a YouTube channel, was sent to jail on judicial remand after the court denied the FIA’s plea for his physical remand.
Additionally, notices regarding Mallick’s bail application were sent by the court, and the next hearing was scheduled for March 27. During the court sessions, numerous anchors and senior journalists were in attendance.
