Instead of the conventional sheet of billowing canvas, the sail under test resembles an airplane wing. Furthermore, the ship to which it has been attached is not your typical ship.
It is one of the three nuclear transport ships in the UK’s fleet, which are specifically built to transport spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste from Sellafield in Cumbria to countries like Japan in accordance with long-standing nuclear decommissioning agreements.

This is a component of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, a government-owned organization.
