The federal government has completed preparing for constitutional modifications, and October 18 has been set aside for a joint session of parliament. Meanwhile, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has conditionally consented to the suggested revisions.
According to sources, the government has finished all of the preparatory work for the proposed constitutional modifications. On October 18, a joint session of parliament has been scheduled, and the summary for the meeting has been produced by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Important constitutional modifications will be proposed in both the National Assembly and the Senate, which will meet in separate sessions.
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has reportedly consented to the proposed revisions on a conditional basis, according to other sources. Rather than taking the issue to the full Constitutional Assembly, the JUI-F leader has proposed the creation of a five- or six-member constitutional bench.
