Party leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has accused the current government of dividing religious scholars in the ongoing dispute between the government and the JUI-F over the Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill 2024, which deals with seminary registration, after the latter called for “keeping madrassas issues separate from politics.”
The religio-political leader asked during a press conference in Charsadda on Monday, “Why are scholars being pitted against each other when there is a conspiracy being hatched to create division among the clerics?”
Maulana Fazl’s words followed the Conference on Madrassa Registration and Reforms, which concluded with the approval of a resolution encouraging the government to preserve the current religious school system.
