The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken firm action, blocking the SIM cards of non-filers nationwide, in an effort to combat tax evasion.
This move comes after the government decided to take harsh measures against those who have not paid their fair share of taxes.
All SIM cards linked to non-filers with taxable income will be barred as of right now and kept that way until May 15.
Telecom firms were instructed to swiftly adopt the action after receiving informed from the FBR about this decision.
There are 506,671 people on the list of non-filers who are not on the Active Taxpayers List. The reason these people have been singled out is because they neglected to file their 2023 tax forms.
