ISLAMABAD Weeks after being rescued from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Malika, a seriously injured female leopard, passed away from severe bullet wounds.
The cat was receiving treatment for serious gunshot wounds at the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) rescue center.
The wild cat’s condition was deemed “critical” by the board last week after an X-ray report from the Islamabad Wildlife Rescue Centre (IWRC) revealed four bullet wounds on the animal’s body.
This happened after the leopard was saved on September 7 from a nullah (water channel) in the Haveli area of AJK and given to the Azad Kashmir Wildlife Department of the IWMB to get care at the board’s rescue center.
