LAHORE: A guy from Lahore who is suspected of being involved in the recent deadly anti-immigrant riots in the United Kingdom was charged on Wednesday with “technical assistance of cybercrime” by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing.
The guy, identified as Farhan Asif, is charged with disseminating false information regarding the identify of the person believed to have carried out the knife attack that killed three young girls in the UK on July 29, 2024.
Following the stabbing, there were extensive far-right riots that resulted in thousands of arrests and attacks on various mosques, asylum centers, and immigrant houses throughout Britain.
After being taken into custody on Tuesday night in the DHA neighborhood of Lahore, Asif was turned over for questioning to the FIA cybercrime division.
