Aneeq, one of the FIA’s own officials, and his father have been taken into custody for their roles in the unauthorized issuing of blue passports to Afghan nationals in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
The FIA’s inquiry into the granting of blue passports to foreign nationals—particularly Afghans—has made considerable headway.
FIA sources claimed that Aneeq, an agency official, had given diplomatic blue passports to Afghan citizens, who then traveled to Turkey with these documents. These Afghan nationals allegedly had phony passports found by Turkish police, which prompted an inquiry.
The suspect is the subject of a terrorism case filed by the FIA. Four suspects in the same case were previously detained by the agency from the passport office for issuing bogus passports.
