ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the federal government unveiled a bill to modify tax regulations, attempting to prevent non-filers from obtaining bank accounts or buying cars larger than 800cc.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb tabled The Tax Laws (change) Bill, 2024, a proposed change that will prohibit non-filers from purchasing real estate beyond a specific threshold.
The amendment further suggested that non-filers would not be permitted to create a bank account or buy shares over a specific threshold.
The measure states that non-filers will not be permitted to do more than a specific number of transactions through a bank. They will be permitted to purchase tractors, rickshaws, and motorcycles, though.
