KARACHI: On Tuesday, a first inquiry report (FIR) was submitted in the case of the murder of two people in the Karimabad neighborhood of Karachi, one of whom was a police officer with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
Since the murder occurred inside the boundaries of the police station, officials said that a FIR was filed at the CTD police station on behalf of Azizabad Police Station Station House Officer Imran Khan Afridi.
The police insisted that the murder and terrorist accusations were part of the case.
Sunday’s firing on Sunday by unidentified terrorists claimed the lives of security guard Waqar and CTD deputy superintendent of police Ali Raza.
Two gunmen targeted the senior police officer, who was close to another deceased officer, senior superintendent police (SSP) Chaudhry Aslam.
After the perpetrators opened fire, Ali was shot in the head and rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he passed away while receiving treatment.
In the intense gunfight, a residential building security guard also perished.
According to police, one of the armed guys was wearing an ajrak, a traditional shawl with block prints from Sindh, while the other shooter was wearing a helmet to cover his face. They stated that the perpetrator targeted the senior cop with a 9mm pistol equipped with a silencer.
According to them, Ali used to regularly travel to the region to see his boyhood pals, which raised doubts that the assassins had done thorough reconnaissance before carrying out the attack.
