According to the Chief Secretary’s announcement, confirmation of the Muharram 1 vacation would come after the moon is visible.
On July 6, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir, will convene to observe the moon of Muharram al-Haram. Following the lunar observation, the commencement of the new Islamic year will be declared.
In a similar vein, zonal committee meetings will take place at the separate offices. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman will formally declare the start of the new Islamic year during these sessions, which will also decide the moon’s visibility.
To maintain law and order during Muharram, the federal and provincial governments have implemented extra security measures.
