According to a ruling by the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), it is not Islamic for a first wife to have the authority to dissolve her marriage if her husband remarries without her consent.
The decision was made during a meeting held by CII on Wednesday, during which members discussed 19 issues on the agenda.
The council’s chairman, Dr. Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, presided over the meeting.
According to the gathering, any court decision that allows for such annulment goes against Islamic principles.
It was determined that the Nikahnama (marriage contract) could optionally include premarital testing for thalassemia or other infectious disorders.
