Known for her Midsommar indie beginnings, Florence Pugh has teased a daring new twist on the superhero genre by referring to Marvel’s Thunderbolts as a “badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie.”
The actress, 29, joked that Thunderbolts is about “a group of misfits not really giving the Avengers a run for their money” in a recent interview with Empire.
The film features “an entirely different style” from other MCU flicks, according to Pugh, who will play Yelena, “the highly trained former assassin” who was first seen in Black Widow.
“It turned out to be this really awesome independent, A24-style assassin film featuring Marvel superheroes,” she said.
The Oppenheimer actress continued by talking about her character’s feelings with Lewis Pullman’s character, Bob.
