Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida thinks Democrats will never win in the Sunshine State. This coincides with claims that registered GOP voters are currently over 900,000 more than Democratic voters.
“You’re talking about a million-plus voter registration shift,” DeSantis said to Maria Bartiromo of News, citing earlier data that showed Republicans trailed their Democratic rivals by about 300,000 registered voters in 2018.
I believe that in part is a local reaction, since people in Florida are more likely to go from being a Democrat to a Republican or from being a nonparty to a Republican than the other way around. It has been a significant factor, but I believe that migration has skewed among those who migrate to Florida rather than those who wish to see policies in Illinois or California changed.
