Yuki Tsunoda, a Japanese Formula One driver, claims that he “nearly got sent back home” after being detained by immigration officers while attempting to enter the United States.
Prior to Sunday’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, the 24-year-old took a plane to America earlier this week.
Tsunoda just brought his physio with him when he traveled to the US, not his Red Bull teammates.
Tsunoda claims he was detained by US customs and border security for as long as three hours, even though he had the necessary documents and visas.
“Luckily, they let me in after a couple of discussions,” Tsunoda added.
“Well, quite a few conversations. I almost got sent home, though.
