Following a tragic attack on the Ankara headquarters of Turkey’s aerospace and defense corporation TUSAS, major social media platforms were subject to limitations in the country on Wednesday.
According to the Mirror UK, the lockdown on social media sites like X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok occurred soon after terrorists broke into the company’s building, murdering five people and injuring more than twenty.
The lockout was publicized on the nation’s social media platforms by NetBlocks, a worldwide internet observatory that keeps an eye on cybersecurity and digital governance, via its X account.
“Confirmed: Live metrics show social media platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok have been restricted in #Turkey,” NetBlocks stated in an article on X.
“As authorities enforce a broadcast, the incident occurs.”
