The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which oversees advertising, “informally resolved” the complaint against Premier Inn, which means the hotel chain changed the statement and kept the specifics of the matter private. The ASA informed News that although there was no official ruling, a complaint had contested Premier Inn’s assertion that reservations made in advance yielded the best discounts. The complaint argued that the claim was unfounded and could not be verified.
With over 800 hotels under its belt in the UK alone, Premier Inn consented to change the advertisement to provide “significant information” regarding how hotel tariffs are determined.
“Book early to secure your choice of hotel and dates for the best price!” said the advertisement in question.
When the ASA collaborates with an advertiser to alter an advertisement, certain complaints filed with the regulator can be promptly handled.
As opposed to the most recent Premier Inn complaint, which resulted in a ruling that was made public, this implies that the complaint does not go before the ASA council.
