On May 15, while greeting supporters at a government meeting in the central Slovak town of Handlova, Mr. Fico, 59, was shot at close range.
He had a five-hour procedure and was in critical condition after the attack. Two days later, he had another surgery.
Director of the facility in Banska Bystrica, the center city, Miriam Lapunikova, claimed that Mr. Fico was brought home, where he is still recuperating from the incident.
The hospital reported that Mr. Fico’s condition has improved recently.
The shooting resulted in the arrest of a guy and was the first significant attempt on the life of a European political figure.
Mr. Fico, a populist, is perceived as being close to Russian President Vladimir Putin and has been likened to former US President Donald Trump.
After winning legislative elections the previous year, he made a political comeback, sparking concerns that he might renounce his nation’s pro-Western position.
