Kanye West says he plans to delete all of his social media accounts after being “bullied” about his moniker Ye.
Ye posted a screenshot of his WhatsApp discussion with motivational speaker Justin LaBoy, which has since been deleted.
Ye’s texts said, “I’m closing my Kanye West Instagram account.” My name is Ye. No brand or number will force me to continue calling myself what they want me to be.
In a second post, a screenshot of the Vultures rapper read, “Somebody has Ye as an account”
“I’d like to know my name so that I can update my account to my legal name. Nobody’s going to bully anything.”
The father of four changed his name from Kanye West to Ye in 2018, when he released the album of the same name.
The same year, he told radio presenter Big Boy, “I believe ‘ye’ is the most regularly used word in the Bible, and it means you. So it’s me, you, and us.
“It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything,” he went on to say.
In 2021, he confirmed that he legally changed his name.
He went to X and wrote, “The creature formally known as Kanye West, “I am YE.”
