The world looks to Riyadh for help in settling major international disputes, according to prominent Saudi writer and media advisor Naif Alotaibi, not only because of the kingdom’s strong financial position and political influence but also because of a number of other, more fundamental reasons that make it a reliable mediator.
In a recent opinion piece that appeared in Arab News, Alotaibi—who is currently the press attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Pakistan—expressed similar opinions.
According to him, Saudi Arabia is a reliable mediator in settling international conflicts because of its enormous political clout.
This trust, however, is the product of decades of diplomatic work during which Riyadh has shown integrity; it did not just appear overnight.
