After spending almost nine months behind bars, Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is eventually released on bail.
She was released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi one day after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted her bail in the new Toshakhana case against Rs. 1 million in surety bonds.
The former first lady was taken into custody after a court found the pair guilty on January 31 of keeping and selling state goods in violation of government regulations (Toshakhana case), and sentenced them to 14 years in prison.
Compared to the standard legal procedure, her release was accelerated because, normally, an imprisoned individual is released after two days of a robkar (release order) being granted.
