Three days after having surgery to treat an enlarged prostate, King Charles made his hospital discharge on Monday. The royal family has since issued a photo of the king along with his first statement.
“We appreciate all of the well wishes you have sent us during The King’s hospital stay,” the palace wrote while posting the image to its official Instagram account.
“His Majesty is thrilled that public health awareness has increased as a result of his diagnosis.”
The King and Queen Camilla were seen in the picture waving to onlookers as they left the facility and got into a waiting car. The King was wearing a suit and a black overcoat.
The palace verified earlier on Monday in a statement: The King has postponed upcoming public appearances to allow for a period of private recovery. He was released from the hospital this afternoon after receiving routine medical care.
