A significant milestone in FBR’s continuing campaign has been reached when the owners of over 7,000 mobile SIM cards filed their tax returns and had their SIMs restored.
According to FBR sources, telecom providers have received the data of 65,000 non-filers. These businesses were directed to disable the SIM cards of those taxpayers who neglected to file their returns.
This action, which targets a total of 506,671 non-filers discovered in an extensive list created by the FBR, is a part of a larger initiative.
To promote compliance, it was determined to gradually deactivate these non-filers’ SIMs under the Income Tax General Order. The tactic appears to do it.
According to the most recent statistics, 7,166 people have now filed their tax returns and had their SIM cards renewed, suggesting that the technique is clearly effective.
The initiative of the FBR seeks to raise tax revenue and guarantee that all qualified taxpayers make a fair contribution. The fact that SIMs have been restored to individuals who participated is evidence that the procedures are working. Through a phased closure of non-filers’ SIMs, the FBR intends to boost compliance rates even more and add more people to the tax rolls.
