Rain washed out Pakistan’s dead rubber against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday, ending their home Champions Trophy campaign without a victory.
There was little significance to the Group A encounter between the two eliminated teams, and the defending champions Pakistan’s chances of a consolation win were dashed by a persistent downpour.
Rain also forced the cancellation of Tuesday’s Group B match between South Africa and Australia at the same location before a ball was bowled.
In the first international competition held in Pakistan since 1996, Mohammad Rizwan’s team has had a forgettable campaign, and their six-wicket loss to bitter rivals India will be especially painful.
