Following their quick expansion, Gail’s owners have a plan for selling.

The proprietors of Gail's, a network of bakeries and coffee shops, are getting ready to appoint advisors in anticipation of a sale that would put the company's valuation much above the £200 million for which it was purchased over three years ago.

The News was informed that Bain Capital Credit and EBITDA Investments, a fund backed by serial restaurant investor Henry McGovern, are working to select bankers, potentially by year’s end.

In recent years, Gail’s—which is also partly owned by prominent businessman and former Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson—has grown rapidly.

The Bread Factory, a subsidiary company of Bread Holdings, is a well-known independent bread manufacturer that supplies upscale consumers and supermarkets.

In September 2021, the group underwent a valuation transaction above £200 million.

There were currently more than 100 Gail’s bakeries operating across the nation, compared to a little over 70 at the time.

Despite being centered in London, it currently has sites in Brighton and Oxford.
