With an even higher air quality index (AQI) than yesterday, Lahore topped the list of the world’s most polluted cities on Wednesday for the second consecutive time as the province capital’s smog problem gets worse.
The US AQI for Lahore’s air quality fell to 503, according to IQAir data that was made public today.
After the AQI surpasses 300, the environment is deemed “hazardous” to human health, according to IQAir’s classification system.
“Good” is defined as having an AQI of 0–5, “moderate” as 51–100, “unhealthy for sensitive groups” as 101–150, “unhealthy” for just 151-200, “very unhealthy” as 201–300, and “hazardous” as going above 301 degrees.
Based on the concentration of airborne particles known to cause lung damage, IQAir calculates the quality of the air.
