The next major demonstration planned by a group of climate activists is scheduled for the summer.
Climate Defiance has issued a statement to its members and supporters, urging a “historic blockade” of the Congressional Baseball Game, an annual contest between Republican and Democratic members of Congress that pits them against one another in the nation’s favorite pastime.
“Humanity and society as a whole are plummeting into oblivion. The choices we make today will have an impact for millennia rather than just centuries. Millions will perish from malnutrition and storms if we do not act now, audaciously, and quickly,” Climate Defiance wrote in an email to supporters.
