Heinrich Klaasen, a prolific batsman for South Africa, was fined 15% of his match fee for “kicking the stumps” to express his displeasure after bowler Naseem Shah removed him during the second ODI against Pakistan.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement that the right-handed hitter had violated the ICC Code of Conduct at Level 1.
Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel—which deals with “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match”—has also been added to his disciplinary record with one demerit point.
Klaasen was a brilliant batsman for the home team, striking a heroic 97 off 74.
