Putin’s visit took place against the backdrop of the ongoing Ukrainian invasion of Russia’s Kursk region.
However, Russia is gaining progress elsewhere in the conflict, which erupted when Mr. Putin gave the order to invade Ukraine on a large scale in February 2022.
The leader of the Kremlin greeted Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, at the beginning of his impromptu visit to the Russian Federation’s Muslim-majority territory.
After that, Mr. Putin spoke with volunteer fighters who train at a special forces academy carrying his own name before they are dispatched to Ukraine.
As long as Russia had men, the 71-year-old stated, he would praise the volunteers.
Since Moscow began its invasion of Ukraine, more than 47,000 militants, including volunteers, have received training at the facility, according to a message made by Mr. Kadyrov on his official Telegram channels.
The visit occurred one day after Mr. Kadyrov recorded himself riding the cybertruck, leading entrepreneur Elon Musk to retract his gift of a cybertruck to the warlord of Chechnya.
