Tejas, an Indian Air Force aircraft, crashed on the grounds of a student dormitory in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, during a training flight for the first time since being acquired in 2016.
The pilot was able to leave safely, and no injuries were reported on the ground.
This marks the fighter plane’s first crash since its debut test flight in 2001. Notably, the Indian Air Force purchased it in 2016.
At around 2 p.m., the jet crashed on the grounds of a student residence near Jaisalmer’s Lakshmi Chand Sanwal Colony.
