The choice of Justice Yahya Afridi as Pakistan’s Chief Justice has garnered support from Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, who has emphasized the necessity for a less contentious individual during a crucial period.
Ahsan Iqbal asserted that the Supreme Court needed a Chief Justice who could assemble a strong team and promote harmony within the organization.
Iqbal stated in his remarks that Justice Afridi was chosen by a Parliamentary Committee from a group of three judges, which is consistent with Pakistan’s custom of choosing Chief Justices.
He emphasized that for the past 20 years, seniority and fitness have been essential factors in judicial nominations, guaranteeing that competent individuals are selected for crucial positions.
